‘Uses smart cards chips embedded in MicroSD Modules’
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., April 14, 2009 – VASCO Data Security International, Inc. (Nasdaq: VDSI) (www.vasco.com), a leading software security company specializing in authentication products, and GO-Trust (www.go-trust.com), a technology innovation company enabling security solutions for the mobile world, announced today that at this year’s RSA Security Conference and Expo in San Francisco (April 20-24, 2009 at the Moscone Center) they are demonstrating One Time Password (OTP) Solutions using OTP enabled smart card chips embedded in SD micro memory modules, installed in cell phones and PDA’s.
Using VASCO DIGIPASS® API authentication software, and the GO-Trust proprietary security/flash controller and firmware for embedding a smart card chip in a SDMicro it was possible to provide One Time Password generation that is as secure as sitting at your office PC and using a smart card reader and smart card. The solution being displayed can also be expanded to offer e-signature capability next to OTP. “This is a very secure and user-friendly solution”, says Jan Valcke, President and COO at VASCO Data Security, “ Secure because the generation algorithm, the seeding keys and the actual calculation are all kept on the smart card chip. User-friendly because the mobile phone, a device the end-user already carries, is leveraged for authentication”.
When deployed this solution can be used to supplement ‘key fob’ OTP/e-signature generators and for very secure mobile logon to confidential websites and corporate VPNs. The combined technologies can also be used for the encryption and digital signing of sensitive information.
